World Liver Day: Manipal Hospitals Hosts Major Health Screening Event in Bhubaneswar

In Bhubaneswar, Manipal Hospitals celebrated World Liver Day by hosting a significant liver health screening camp and informative session at the Maha Budha Society of India on Saturday. The event attracted more than 250 participants, showcasing a robust community interest in preventive health measures.

The gathering featured notable figures such as Rajaram Satapathy, a senior journalist and former bureau chief of The Times of India, along with Saktimaya Mohapatra, the hospital director, and the gastroenterology team, including senior consultant Pratap Behera, consultant Gyana Ranjan Rout, and consultant GI & HPB Surgery Jyotirmay Jena. Satapathy commended the hospital's initiative, stating, “In an era where lifestyle-related diseases are on the rise, raising awareness is crucial for prevention.”

The camp operated from 10 AM to 2 PM, offering complimentary liver function tests and three expert-led discussions centered on liver health. Medical professionals highlighted the often asymptomatic nature of liver diseases and stressed the significance of early diagnosis, especially for individuals at higher risk, such as those with obesity, diabetes, alcohol use, or a family history of liver issues. Mohapatra remarked, “This initiative underscores our dedication not only to treatment but also to community education. Liver diseases can be silent threats; awareness is essential.”
